About Me

Who are you?

My name is Charmaine (hence the Char in the blog title), and I am a foodie based in Perth, Western Australia, and am married to another foodie.

“Feed the Char” is my husband’s motto, as we discovered long ago that I’m happier when I’m fed and un-hangry.

I spent my childhood in Kuching in Sarawak, Malaysia, and my adult life in Perth. As a result, my palette tends is a mish-mash of what I grew up with alongside all the new flavours I have discovered as life trudges along.

I believe that food is art and expression, and the best kind of food elevates the experience of eating into something truly divine.


Why blog?

This blog is a chronicle of my various food experiences around Perth and beyond, and also a long overdue way to work through the many food photos I have accumulated on my phone.

I’m also currently taking an indefinite career break from IT to deal with severe burnout, and writing this blog is part of my strategy to keep a steady routine for myself while I focus on getting better. Blogging here also helps me hone my writing and photography skills, and acts as my writing/photography portfolio while I transition into freelance writing for a living.
